Raiatea is part of the polynesian archipelago of the Society Islands and, more precisely, belongs to the Leeward Islands.

The legend tells that, because of a grief of love, a giant, with one big punch, would have separated Raiatea from Tahaa, which at that time were one and same island.

It is also well known for its beautiful beaches and the color of its waters as for its history.
It is the archetypal island of culture, which offers the visitors many historical and religious sites, as of Taputapuatea marae.
Paradise for sailors, one must be careful to the “maaramu” that can blow very hard and cause a choppy sea; fortunately, the shelters in the lagoons are very pleasant and the moorings easy.
You can then enjoy all the submarine reef fauna and flora.

Do not miss a contest of va'a, these dugouts that, like bats out of hell, fly at the strength of the rowers, or a Polynesian feast: it is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in the world.
